Before using heat shrinkable tape to repair the joint, it is necessary to stop and adjust the joint repair position, and clean the surrounding weld seams and burrs, weld spatter, dirt, oil stains, and debris on the left side. The surface of the coated part of the pipe joint should be derusted, and the quality of the surface derusting treatment should reach the corrosion level of the steel surface before painting, Sa2.5~Sa3.0 in GB/8923.

Sandblasting or electric tools can be used to remove rust. The polyethylene layer at the joint should be ground to a rough surface. After the end treatment of the groove, terminate it at the inclined angle of the groove end, with the inclined angle not exceeding 30 degrees, and then use a flame heater to preheat. The lap width of the anticorrosion heat shrinkable sleeve and polyethylene anticorrosion coating should not be less than 100 mm. If the humidity is greater than 85% or it is raining or snowing, the construction should be suspended.

For the equipment and devices of the hot melt sleeve, the dirt on the joint part should be cleaned, the hot melt sleeve should be placed in the middle of the interface, and the wire should be placed on the sleeve. The hot melt sleeves should overlap, and the pressure plate should be placed at the large longitudinal seam of the hot melt sleeve to ensure that the seam joint is in close contact. The electrothermal parts at both ends of the hot melt sleeve are tightly bound with packing tape and should not be loosened.

Connect the wires on the hot melt sleeve to the control box (output), turn on the switch, and set the voltage and energization time according to the standard reference table; when there is condensed polyethylene overflow at the edge of the joint, cut off the power or automatically cut off the power; generally, according to the on-site environmental conditions, the hot melt sleeve joint needs to be naturally cooled for 20-30 minutes before the packing tape and pressure plate can be removed.
